Flag of Earth

This Flag of Earth was created in 1970 with the idea that all the nations of the world have unity in the earth. Rapid developments brought on by rapid communications have created a need to have pride and love for our earth as well as our town and our country. The flag’s design is significant. Its colors come from the yellow sun, the blue of earth as it appears from a distance, and the single white moon in the blackness of space.

Fingerlakes Zero Waste Coalition

The economic vitality and environmental health of our beautiful Finger Lakes area are under attack by private waste companies seeking profits, and politicians more focused on short term gain than long term impacts. We are a not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting sustainable waste management practices, and to leading the fight to oppose the expansion of landfills for out-of-county and out-of-state garbage. Our mission is to protect the air, land and water quality of the Finger Lakes region, and promote economic development that preserves our greatest asset—the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes.

Unitarian Universalist of Canandaigua

We are a diverse group of religious free-thinkers who gather to celebrate life, build community and better the world.  Where ever you are on your spiritual journey, you are likely to find fellow travelers in our church community. We are proudly engaged in our community through our Social Justice and Green Sanctuary ministries. The Seventh Principle of Unitarian Universalism is respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part. We teach this to our children, to the church community and in outreach to the larger community of all.
